For the past decade, the United States has
come so far in technology. Almost everything that is available in print copy is
available digitally. In “Why Digital Is Better Than Print” Dan Blank gives us
many benefits in using digital technology rather than using print. Digital is
the most efficient way to gather information.
Many people want to commute using the
train by carrying as light and small as possible. “You easily bump into the
person next to you with it; you find your hands are blackened with ink, and
that you could annoy the person next to you with the constant shuffling sound
of the pages” (Blank). If everyone would be reading from their phone, the train
ride would be more confortable.
Print paper waste tons of trees each day.
Dan Blank states, “The lifespan of a newspaper is incredibly short” but a
person can use their mobile device for many years before upgrading to a newer
one. Using digital media saves many resources, including trees. Even though
people can recycle used paper, not everyone recycles.
If Josh just finished reading an amazing
article and wants to share this reading experience with his friends, he can
wait until his friends arrive, he can go to them, or, if they live far away, he
can ship the article to them. “Print media doesn’t play well with anyone else”
(Blank), but digital technology gives a person the ability to instantly share
the article. Digital media is always finding ways to connect people with others
more quickly.
In the next fifty years everything will
be available digitally. Print newspapers, articles, notebooks, and magazines
will be very rare to find just like typewriters are now. Digital media is
better, faster, and cooler in every aspect in life.
